Happy New Year SASE Fam! With the start of the spring semester rolling in, we wanted to share with you our tips for the beginning of the semester, which in turn, leads to a successful semester overall! 1. Get to know your Class Web Page
At Rutgers, your online courses will have their information located on three main platforms: Canvas, Sakai, and Blackboard. Make sure to check where every class you registered for is located to stay up-to-date about syllabi, homework, exams, virtual class, and more. 2. Plan EARLY ... you'll thank us later Planning out your study schedule and assignment due dates at the beginning of the semester can save you from unnecessary stress over missing work and last minute studying for an exam you completely forgot about. This can be as simple as going through your syllabi and marking down any due dates or exams in your calendar or planner. 3. Find an Organization System that works for YOU As it is the Spring semester, you most likely had some sort of organizational system for the fall. If this worked for you, great, stick to that plan for another successful semester. However, if your system didn't work for you as well as you would have liked, here are a few suggestions:
4. Set up a clean study space Whether it's your desk, a corner on your bedroom, or a part of you dining table, keeping a clean workplace while you study can calm the mind and make studying a bit easier. 5. Make time to meet your professors With online classes, it can feel challenging or even intimidating to reach out to your professors for help. However, reaching out early on in the semester, whether it be for a simple introduction during office hours, can make asking for help later on that much easier. 6. Join a GroupMe/Discord for your course Joining a GroupMe, Discord, or other chat service for a class is a great way to meet new people in your course and collaborate with your peers throughout the semester. 7. Don't Forget to Eat, Sleep, and Breathe Make sure to take time every day to take care of yourself. That means eating regularly, exercising, sleeping well, spending time talking to friends and family, and relaxing in your favorite ways. We hope these 7 tips can help you start this semester off right, and we hope to see you all at our general SASE meetings soon!
