SASE Science Week is finally here and we are so excited to celebrate this week with you all. With most of us staying at home this year, we thought it would be fun to relive some middle school memories of fun science projects that can be done in the comfort of your home! If you decide to do any of these projects, share it with the hashtags #SASEScienceWeek2021 and #SASEScienceFair and tag us @saserutgers on IG and @SASERutgers on FB posts. You can also send it to us via email at [email protected] to get a shot out on our socials. By: Shriya Chinthak
Solar panel oven: Another nostalgia inducing experiment is the solar panel oven. Through this experiment, you'll be able to make some smores on a nice sunny day. The black construction paper within the oven absorbs the sun's energy, and in turn, heats (in the form of thermal energy) up the graham crackers, marshmallow, and chocolate. The link to the instructions for this experiment can be found here.
Rube Goldberg Machine: A Rube Goldberg Machine is a set of simple machines grouped together to complete a single task at the end. Get creative and come up with your own rube goldberg machine with items you have around the house. Here's an example of an incredible at-home machine. We hope you enjoyed viewing some of these experiments and are feeling nostalgic enough to try them out yourself. Check out more easy experiment ideas here. If you do try any of these or an experiment from your middle/high school memories, let us know by tagging us @saserutgers in IG posts, @SASERutgers in FB posts, or email us at [email protected]. We hope you enjoy the rest of SASE Science Week.
